New York vs. California, which is the best state to live in?
well, I love urban place and big cities and lights and the list goes on…. I would a place where there’s no violence, i mean theres violence everywhere, but somewhere with not to much violence, but with a lot of flashy lights and fashion and nice cars…. I’ll be going to college soon and i need to know which one of them is the best to live in…
New York because the shops are closer and i think its cheaper to buy homes in new york rather than California. Also i like big cities and places where it’s always busy so I’d pick NY some parts of NY there’s not loads of violence, but like u said violence is everywhere
Urban Myths-peanut test?
Supposedly a bowl of peanuts left on a bar were tested and there were traces found of urine from several people, did this survey ever take place or is it an urban myth, kinda puts you off nibbling the peanuts doesn’t it? Don’t know about guys but plenty of women don’t wash their hands after going to the loo, yuk
Its not an urban myth its true go into any bar where there are plates of nuts and you will find them contaminated. I have never eaten peanuts in this way for that reason.
Its not just that though I watched an Oprah Winfrey show where she had sent people out to do tests on all sorts of things, pocket change , childrens play area, cash in department store tills, cinema seats. The results of this certainly made me think twice about eating anywhere other than home again without washing my hands !! It was pretty awful and as that was some years ago it still sticks in my mind today.
It is true if you use a public toilet and watch how many go in and out with out washing hands I think they are disgusting !!
how can human activity affect a creek ecosystem?
the creek is located within a rural-urban catchment where rapid development has taken place. The creek itself, has experienced years of deterioration due to industrial pollution and urban run-off. It has been heavily modified in its middle sections to provide flood protection once extensive wetland areas and also in upstream tributaries.
with measurements made, there was no phosphorus or nitrate found.. in fact the water was clear, and seems "healthy".. the only human activity found were mats and garbage..
Areas of land are divided into drainage basins (large and small) separated by divides (high points along ridges) that drain rain and snow melt to a lake or the sea, etc. Anything dumped into the drainage basin may find its way to the creak (or river) through surface runoff or movement of groundwater (especially near dumps, etc.). Flood control projects often spare land but increase the prospects of flooding downstream because upstream flooding provides a buffer. Stream velocities may increase without flooding scouring the stream beds.

i shop/used to shop at like A&F Hollister etc… i go to some other places now can i get your opinions?
i still shop at like AE Hollister A&F, but ive been shopping at Express, PacSun, Heritage 1981 Urban Behavior.. has a different, and cool look. i still like some of the stuff at the "preppy" places. ive never worn any of the clothes that just have the name of the company on it, i like the shirts that have the different pics or designs on it
im 20, so girls what do you think looks good on a guy? i like whatever i guess as long as it just doesn’t have the name of the company on it, its like free advertising to me lol… i like when girls think i look good when i go out lol
Well I think Express Men is the sexiest. =)
Did you know that the woman who started Planned Parenthood was a racist?
if you read her auto-bio. is states that she started her business in the inner cities to keep the number of births of blacks down. Yes, its actually in the book. Why do you suppose the govt gave this non profit $63 million last year? Esp. when they say they are non-profit, and have 40 million as a overage from 2005? Why do liberals support then so strongly? Are people so ingnorant that they don’t realize what is going on? The say they offer parenting services and birth control… 99.2% of their Birth Control services last year were abortions, and .8% were adoptions. the fact that the clinics are mostly put in urban places would make me mad if I were a black person!!! Doesn’t anyone care?
By the why, I’m a white person, who lives in the suburbs. It inferiorates me that some people don’t want to believe what is going on in the world, and our big cities.
I personally wouldn’t care if she were the antichrist…Planned Parenthood is a good organization that has helped and is continuing the educate and provide services to our socicety.
Do ALL cities and towns eventually become like downtown LA or the rough part of New York and Jersey?
An aweful lot of towns in the United States are building more and more apartments and other things, and becoming more Urban, is this bound to happen everywhere, has anyone seen how rough down town Los Angeles is for example, it’s like there is nothing natural about it, people are feelingless, no one trusts anyone else, people only care about making money, selling drugs, etc….there are tons of frightening sad looking apartments, there is nothing wholeistic or truly happy in places like this, is this how all cities do turn out, do some small towns not follow this trend ? I have no basis to compare never really having traveled to very many places besides, LA, Solvang, California, Burbank, Pasadena, Lancaster, Ca etc……
You don’t think that Burbank, Pasadena and Solvang are like downtown LA, do you? There are small sketchy areas in Burbank and Pasadena, but most areas are very nice and safe, with very nice people. While downtown LA is rather seedy, parts of it are nice, and the city is working to turn it nicer, with the new Nokia and restaurants, etc. While I’m sure many people living in bad situations may be despondent, are you sure there are no happy people? Have you worked in the community to help? Take a closer look for yourself, you can always volunteer, there are plenty of opportunities.
Urban legends? A truck driver spots a stranger sneaking into the back seat of a car.?
He races after the car to warn the driver. The driver thinks it is the truckdriver that is the problem. Finally the car pulls over in a public place and the intruder runs away.
It happened in Toothfairy, Oklahoma, in 1977
