Spiders, in which season are they more common?
I mean.. I always thought that they were more common at summer because I use to get invaded by them, but i’ve heard that it is in winter.
Also, are there more spiders in a urban place or a forest place?
They are more common INSIDE in the winter and outside in the Summer.. But to tell you the truth I have been seeing their behavior changing lately because the weather here has been so unstable… Spiders are much more populated in the Forest Areas because they aren’t disturbed as much as in Urban settings.. but of course they can still be found there as well.
Eeewwww!1 I hate spiders!!
What city should my friends and I move to?
Me, my best friend, and my twin sister currently live in Detroit, MI and it sucks. We are looking to relocate to another big city, and I was wondering if any of you have advice. My friend is graduating high school this year, and I’m already in college, so we are looking for a nice, affordable urban place with good colleges. We also want excitement, so nothing boring. What do you think? Sell me on some cities.
Thanks guys!
Louisville Kentucky?
I live there, and it is the best city i’ve been in so far. Louisville is the biggest city in Louisville. It’s not too crowded and not too quiet.
I don’t know really know much about the colleges but downtown they have the University of Louisville(UofL)and i’ve heard that it is a pretty good place.
They have Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom which is an amusement park but i warn you that a child last year broke her leg on one of the rides and there were a few people who fell down from a high ride in Six Flags. But there are 2 other amusement parks in Ohio they have King’s Island and in Indiana they have Holiday World which are awesome.
Every February Kentucky has a program called Smile Kentucky! and they give out toothbrushes, toothpaste, and bottles of water so children can really brush their teeth good. That might be good whenever you have children.
Just moved to New Orleans, hadn’t been a whole week, looking for an urban UPSCALE night club?
Have only been in New Orleans (acually Metarie) for a couple of days. I’m getting board looking at TV at night, I’m looking for a night spot of an early 30’s upscale urban person. What’s a good place?
Sounds like you may need to keep movin on. New Orleans is the Big Easy, not the Big Pretentious. This isn’t Atlanta (thankfully). And all those places listed in the other post are nice, but they are purely "Butsie" (uptown, white, pretentious) hangouts, not at all urban. Maybe try Donna’s on St. Ann and Rampart, or Loraine’s on St. Claude. Really, the best spot for what you are looking for would be either Snug Harbor, Cafe Basil or the Blue Nile on Frenchman Street in the Faubourg (neighborhood) Marigny (just next to the French Quarter – please don’t say French Quater"s" – or, New Or-"leens," for that matter). New Orleans invested funk and still is. (The Funky Butt Saloon was a pre 1900 place where jazz pioneer Buddy Bolden played. The word "funky’ is African via Congo Square here in New Orleans and means "deliciously good.") Upscale is viewed as being in bad taste and very, "out-of-town." Just get funky, hang out, have fun and enjoy the Big Easy.
How much would it cost to buy a "corner store" in an urban low-income city?
You know the average cost for buying and not renting a small "corner store"-ish structure in the city? I want the place to be in a semi-rough urban area, if you will. Low-income poverty-ish, you know?
Probably not much. The news is loaded with stories about foreclosed properties going to auction and no one even bids on them. I’ve seen houses in Detroit, Chicago and Philly go for $500 and under that even.
If you could find something like that in a commercial location, you’re good to go. You might have to spend a lot on bars for the windows and bullet proof glass thouth. ;o)
Is it an original idea…(nobody will answer this)?
Is it an original idea to make a traffic light as a fictional monster? I want to use traffic lights as flying sentry robots. Does it look like an original idea, or has another artist claimed that one?
Just imagine a ruined, urban place on a foggy morning. Ruined city buildings & lights in shambles. You approach a traffic light, and something moves. The red signal becomes an red eyeball! The traffic light rips free of its pole & starts shooting at you!
Well, how is this idea? Corny, too sci-fi, or weird?
quite original.
Can just see it now!
Kids all over town jamming into theatres to see this movie…
what’s it based on? what’s the plot, the start, the ending…
don’t make it a flop like "snakes on a plane"
What are some good entrepreneurship ideas for an urban area in the developing world?
If you have any experience running a business in a so-called poor country, care to share your inspiration, high and low points etc? What other ideas do you have for entrepreneurship in such a place? Thanks.
I may or may not have sold items in a poorer country. Items are cheaper in poorer countries. If you can reach the developing country customers by using the internet, while selling items from a poorer country, you have an advantage because #1, you read and type english so there is not much competition (for creating ads or website listings) if english is not the language of that country. #2 you are getting items at the cheapest possible price without having to export them all in bulk. You can export them as you sell each one.
Low Points: Culture Shock. Living in a developing country is a bit of a change if you are not used to it. I dont recommend someone try unless they have a genuine interest in that country, and are not going there just to make money.
Legalities. In most cases, countries will not allow you to make money there if you are not a citizen or do not have a business license. In most developing countries, it is very hard to get a business license and to be an "entrepreneur" or "self employed individual" is nearly impossible if you are to play by their rules. In order to get a business license, many of them require your present employer from your country to email a written letter to their immigration or visa office. This is impossible if you do not work for anybody who has interest in that country. In this case, you have to pay natives to do the work for you and instruct them on how to do everything. You can’t pick up one item or it will be illegal. This cuts into your profits a bit and may be borderline illegal in that country. But at the same time you are helping a person poorer than yourself so its a good deed no matter what.
Where to run in an urban area?
Hello, I live in a somewhat urban area where there are no natural trails to run in. Is there any advice for where to run? I can run in place but that is pretty boring, and I’m not sure if that is safe or not (for your bones). Any suggestions?
See if there are any green spaces around like parks, schools, golf courses etc. SOme times there are tracks by rivers.
I lived in London for a while and I had to take the tube to some green parks. Bit of a hassle though.
Running around your neighbourhood on the pavement is ok, but it is better on asphalt rather than concrete. Go exploring with your runs.
There may be other runners in clubs nearby who may be able to help, or even run with.
how disguised unemployment takes place in urban areas??
pls explain it with the help of an example..
Disguised unemployment takes place everywhere, but mostly among the middle-class – because they actively diguise it!
The following are not counted among the unemployed:
* new graduates and school leavers (regardless of education level) — you can’t be counted as unemployed until you have been employed!
* people who were out of the laborforce for awhile but are returning to work & actively seeking employment — mothers returning to work, people who took time off to go back to school, people who were ill, surgery, temporarily disabled
* people who have been unemployed for an extended period and are discouraged or can’t even find an opening to apply for (a good example is blue collar workers when their industry – autos, steel, textiles – shuts down and there is nothing anwhere which uses their skills, and no one willing or able to hire them for unskilled labor) or retrain them)
* American citizens who worked overseas & return to the US
* active job hunters who take temp work to keep a roof overhead while jobhunting or hoping for temp-to-perm
* disguising oneself as a "consultant" to hide the fact one is unemployed – it is easier to get a job if you already have one
* people doing irregular labor, day labor, etc – house or office cleaning, nannies/babysitters, "odd jobs"
* people working "off the books"
where is the best place in Raleigh, NC to find an urband kids white tuxedo?
I am looking for an urban white tuxedo with either pink or red vests. I also need some kids platform shoes and a hat with a feather almost like a tophat. It’s for a play!
The mall.
Deeply Moving Epitaph on the wall of a Barbados church?
Years ago, I visited a church in Barbados and remember being so moved by an epitaph written for a woman who died in childbirth. It was written on a marker placed on an interior wall of the church (the same wall as the entry). And now . . . I can’t remember what said, just that it was a very moving tribute to her. Does anyone know this epitaph? It was in an old, historic church mostly away from the hustle-and-bustle of any urban place. Thank you so much!
I dont know the answer to your question, but I do know how you might find it yourself.
Do a google image search of barbados churches so you can find the name of the church once you do, do a google search with this format "name of church"+"barbados" and you should be able to find an address, phone number, or website to contact the church and get the info you want.
Good luck!
