I have a running complaint with the FCC on this issue as they totallly suck as a provider. When I spoke with someone from the "President's Office" they stated that the statement is based on GLOBAL coverage and the roaming agreements that they have. It has NOTHING to do with coverage in the US, which is half-A$$.

I went back to Verizon which is so much better.
References :
AT&T themselves.

okay... you are one person out of the millions of people who have AT&T service... it is not guaranteed that everyone, everywhere in the USA can recieve picture perfect coverage and service... get real. In a perfect world... yes that would happen... but no. AT&T along with VZW have the nations best cell phone coverage... so to me it isnt meant as a joke...

and to the person above me... when you sign with AT&T, Verizon, any company... if you would read to contract, paper work, research about the company it clearly says SERVICE IS NOT GUARANTEED INDOORS... just thought you should know.

i work for Verizon Wireless, so me sticking up for and defending AT&T..says something haha
References :
work for VZW

I think that is an absolute joke and it is merely pure marketing hype. So it has been said, that the actual coverage can be determined by a number of factors. The phone frequency or even the terrain of the area for starters (towers, placement of the towers, list goes on). Just look at the Iridium satellite phone, there slogan says "Everywhere"
They forgot to tell you what happens when it storms outside (no service). They also forgot to tell you that these phones do not work indoors.
References :
http://msmobiles.com/o/news/00323.html

Prove that claim is a lie. Just because their service where you live isn't the greatest does not mean that they have a weak signal everywhere else.
