What is a good urban area in Puerto Rico?

OK I posted a question a few days ago about stores in PR. I am moving to the northern area of PR & I want to open an urban clothing store. I have been to all the towns in this area, but I would like to get others opinions on what do u think is the best area to open an urban clothing store? I need a place w/ traffic & stores & lots of young teens & adults that are into urban clothes/music, etc. I want to put it somewhere it will sell. Also some of these brand names are not cheap like other clothing stores in the area. Basically I am considering Vega Baja, Manati, Dorado, Barceloneta etc. I am considering Arecibo & Bayamon b/c they are more urban but they are a little far. Please give your input. Thank u

I live here in PR and help run a family business in Dorado. If you want heavy foot traffic I would suggest you go to Bayamon. But the Barceloneta mall has recently started an expansion, you might want to check on space availability. If you have high end items I would definitely stay away from the west and go more towards the metro area. Keep your eye on Dorado it is undergoing rapid expansion, there is a shopping center that is built, but not yet open next to the Amigo on Avinida de Jose Efran. Go by there and see if you can find out when (or if) they plan to open. Near Cerro Gordo beach in Vega Alta there is a shopping center recently open, and is now leasing, called Plaza Del Mar. This is less than three miles from Dorado’s town center and less than 1 from some of the most expensive residential areas in Dorado.
The problem with this place is that since being open they have already opened and closed 6 businesses ranging from an Argentinian leather goods store, to a Pizza Wheels. But three businesses are doing well there. Good luck

Along the #2 road passing through the towns of Bayamon, Arecibo, Dorado, Manati, Vega Baja and Barceloneta there are malls that do have space for stores. If you are thinking by some of the urbanizations, you may have to check in person because some of them do not allow buisnesses close by as to avoid problems of traffice and crime.
I mention the #2 road because there are various malls that a lot of people go to and people from all over go there.
Now, since these towns are by the beach where there is more activity of young people you can check the following areas so as to establish near by your store:
Dorado has Punta Salinas Beach and there are the Embassy Suits Dorado del Mar Beach and Golf Resort and Dorado del Mar Golf Club. This beach is always visited by teens and adults. There are also museums there which all this calls the attention of everyone all year round.

At Vega Baja you have Cerro Gordo Beach and precicely there is a nice new urbanization all modern called Estancias de Cerro Gordo a few minutes by the beach and there are many teens and adults who I am sure would love to buy at your store.

Near Barceloneta is Los Tubos Beach where there is a lot of teens, young adults who go for various activities such as the Los Tubos Concert and Beach Events that are held. Also there are many who stay there and a store by there would be nice.

Bayamon is not on the coast but there are areas where you may set up your store such as Hato Tejas where the American University is, Quintas de Flamingo which is a large urbanization but the Central University is there where around there you can check to set up your store.
Two months back I was by these town because we went to go ro a ride and visit with family. The center of Arecibo is not that much but you can check the outskirts of the town down by rout 10 which is where Fun Valley Park is and other places of interest where tourists of all over go to visit.
Manati has the Tortuguero recreational facilities near rout 137 off of #2 where also many people go.

But if you are going to sell clothes that are a bit higher than other stores you will have to check out by the hotels and beach areas where there are constant traffic of tourists, people from here visiting and of course these are the areas where teens and young adults go to.
I know San Juan is far but where you will set up would be nice, but check first. I believe enjoypuertorico.com can help, Puerto Rico WOW is also another site to see some of the areas.
I hope this helped you out a bit. And I wish you the best of wishes on your new store.

You would want to check these towns on the web just by entering the name of the town and check the ordinances they may have relating to establishing buisnesses near urbanizations.

I went there and had no problem. but for your sake ask a local to accompany you. I also owned a Kiosk in Durham North Carolina and they have the same type of urban hip hopish crowds.I made plenty of money and would set up in BAYAMON in the mall!!!!! The mall is awesome even if you just had a kiosk!
