I live in a large city and we have a home with a fireplace. I’m not disadvantaged at all. Before we bought this house I lived in an apartment without a fireplace and I got along just fine without it. But now that I have one, I love it. The first and last fires of the year are very special to us and although we don’t use it as an altar, we do use it for religious acts of honor. References :

Don’t know what I’d need a fireplace for in my practice that my stove, hibachi, or a candle couldn’t handle.
