Good websites for contemporary DIY apartment decor and crafts?

Hey all… I just moved into an apartment with way more wall and floor space than I’m used to. I want to make some inexpensive decor to give the place some character (along with scouring the local thrift stores). Somewhat kitschy yet contemporary/urban is good, but I want stuff to look fairly nice too – I’m nearing 30 and posters tacked to the wall just don’t do it anymore.

Screen printed canvasses, interesting homemade lampshades, dried flower arrangements, etc, are the kind of things I’m looking for. Stuff that requires a little work and an eye for design but doesn’t necessarily need massive artistic inspiration. Can anyone recommend good websites with how-tos on DIY apartment decor projects like these?
I should note that I’m looking for websites with actual how-tos/tutorials to *make* things, not buy them. Thanks…

The two best places to look are

http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_US/

and
www.homedecorators.com

both of these places have some good decor
as far as crafts go check out Michaels
