How we can find the donators to help the victims of Gender Based Violence and Domestic Violence?

I am Director of the Women’s Wellness Center that has become one of the leading local institutions in Kosovo whose main focus is gender-based violence. The WWC is a multi-service women’s center that offers direct counseling, support and referral to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. It offers extensive rural outreach of counseling and education organizes a wide range of activities and courses for women as well as trains professionals (healthcare providers, social workers, police, judges, and lowers, public prosecutor) to recognize and respond to domestic violence and sexual assault. The Women’s Wellness Center is covering four municipalities of the Pejë region (Pejë, Deçan, Istog and Kline) consisting of urban areas and rural zones with a total number of 300.000 inhabitants.

The Women’s Wellness Centre is seeking support for to realize building a safe house for victims of violence
This donation will contribute:

–To profit kosovar community especially the target population – the women and children victim of domestic violence.
-from the experience the WWC staff created a data base for all the sheltered clients. From those statistics is information that in our shelter have been sheltered clients from all Kosovo and every day the number of clients that are seeking the safe place is increasing.
- To offer more adequate accommodation for the domestic violence victims.
The house that we use for the shelter is a private house and unable us to offer adequate accommodation for the sheltered clients. According to our regulation we don’t accept clients that have sons older than 9 year old. We had cases when the mother with some female children was sheltered at the safe house and the male children were sheltered to her mother family. This is not a solution because first it’s not a safe one and the mother doesn’t feel calm at the shelter.
If you’ll support us with building the shelter, we prearrange to have a special place in the building with an entrance for an apartment for the specific cases.
-To develop sustainability for the project
In this building was foreseen to be one part that in the future will be used for any kind of manufacture and from which we and the clients will profit. In this way we could secure income for the elementary need of clients that right now we have the donations but not now till when will have the support? This should create more sustainability for the project itself.
-To achieve economical independence and physical and emotional safety for WWC/S.H. staff.
The most difficult part of donation is to find the money for shelter rent .If we calculate the rent for the next 5 years would be more expensive than to build a safe house.

I’m pretty sure that solicitation of this type is probably against the rules here. That being said …. try contacting Amnesty International and getting assistance from them to locate proper sources of funding for your well purposed goals.
